The following single-note melodic exercise is a classic jazz 'lick' or 'linear expression' of the very talented Pat Azzara (professional name Martino, Pat). It is contained in his book, "Linear Expressions". I found this off Jimmy Bruno's website, but it is a Martino lick note-for-note and I believe Pat owns the copyright to it.
